The drive from Marrakech to Essaouira passes through the Argan tree forests of the Haha region — a landscape unique to southwest Morocco. These are the same trees that produce the world-famous Argan oil, and you'll often see goats climbing the branches along the roadside.

Practical Tips for Your Essaouira Visit

Departure time: If you're spending the day and returning the same day, depart Marrakech by 8:00–9:00 AM to arrive by 11:00 AM and have a full day in Essaouira before the return trip.

What to see: The ramparts and sea bastions with their iconic cannons are a must. Walk through the medina souks, visit the port and fish stalls, and stroll along the beach (Plage d'Essaouira). The town is car-free inside the walls — all exploring is done on foot.

Wind: Essaouira is known as the "Wind City of Africa" — it's popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers. Even in summer, a light jacket can be useful in the late afternoon when the Atlantic breeze picks up.
