Agadir is Morocco's premier beach resort city, set on a wide Atlantic bay with some of the country's best weather year-round. It lies approximately 240 km south of Marrakech, around 3 hours by private car via the A7 motorway south and the N1 through the Souss plain.
The drive from Marrakech to Agadir passes through the Chichaoua plains before entering the Souss-Massa valley, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve famed for its argan tree forests. These ancient, gnarled trees — unique to southwest Morocco — produce the world's most expensive culinary oil, and you'll see roadside stalls selling fresh argan products throughout the region.
This is a private, one-way door-to-door transfer. Your driver will pick you up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech and drop you directly at your accommodation or the beach in Agadir. No shared buses, no waiting at stations.
Not included: Return trip (book separately), guided tours, entrance fees, meals.
Best departure time: Depart Marrakech by 8:00–9:00 AM to arrive in Agadir by midday, with the full afternoon on the beach.
Argan forest stop: The Chtouka-Ait Baha area south of Chichaoua is a great area to stop for photos of the argan landscape. Roadside cooperatives sell authentic argan oil and sell directly to travellers.
What to do in Agadir: Agadir's famous 3 km sandy beach is excellent for swimming and sunbathing. The Kasbah of Agadir Oufella on the hill above the city offers sweeping views of the bay. The old Amazigh heritage village (Agadir Oufella) is a reconstructed traditional village north of the city. Taghazout, 20 km north, is a world-class surfing destination.
Overnight stays: Agadir is an excellent base for exploring the Souss region. Combine your visit with a trip to Taroudant (1h east) or the Paradise Valley waterfalls (1h north).
